Clear Lake Jig Slugfest!!!
This great day we had didn't start out so great. We started with high expectations and high hopes to catch some toads. Once we reached the lake the sky was smoggy and the lake was algae filled. Expecting to get a few on top and maybe a few swim bait fish, it just didn't happen. We ended up hitting one stretch of docks that were filled with fat healthy Clear Lake bass. We couldn't get them on anything but a Jig and a senko. The jig I was using was an all black 3/8 oz. Cooch's Wadda Jig by TNT Baits tipped with a Fishhunterbait Click'r Craw. The shape of the head on the jig makes it easy to skip and put way under most docks right where the big girls were sitting. Almost every fish hit on the fall and when they did they knocked slack in the line and swam off at 100 miles per hour. The Rod I was using was an iROD Genisis II 744, the reel was a shimano Citica and the line was 20lb vicious Elite Series florocarbon. Our bag weighed 30lbs that day with the big fish being 8lbs. All in all it was a great day and I am very fortunate to have such a great lake in my area.
